2022 was a great year and although it had it’s challenges and ups and downs we still ran personal bests throughout the year.
We had more side by side runs than we've done before and we're hoping that this is going to continue into the future. A big thank you has to go to Santa Pod Racway for making this happen, it is very exciting for us as a team and feedback from the fans has been phenomenal. Our confirmed meetings from Santa Pod for 2023 indicates that there is much more of this to come. You can find all the dates on the Schedule.
We had a fantastic time at the NitrOlympX in Hockenheim which had been cancelled for two years because of the pandemic. Hats off to Gerry Lackey and all the team who make this such a special event. We ran in the night show against the Dragon Hunter driven by Gerd Haberman and it has to be said that we thought it was pretty special with both teams working well together to put on a good show. Dragon Hunter and Firestorm went into stage on full power when the timing lights omitted to count down so both cars launched without a green and completed the run. The enormous crowd went nuts and it was a great end to a stunning NitrOlympX Night Show!
It's been busy in the workshop this off season. Amongst other things we've had to repair flame holder mounts on the bishops hat, we have fabricated a new flame holder as that was passed it's sell by date. The hot streaks were looking poorly so we manufactured those. Fitted a new flame show set up so hopefully we can put on a bigger show without running out of fuel - again! Both the trailer and the pickup needed some overdue TLC which has been done. So all in all a busy but very productive winter in the Jet Shed.
Bring on 2023, looking forward to seeing everyone back at the track!!
18th February 2022
The 2021 season turned out to be a decent season considering that the pandemic was still having a huge impact on many things. The Ford Show, The Euro Finals and the Flame & Thunder at Santa Pod Raceway all went ahead as scheduled. Just one hiccup for us when we had an issue with the starter motor at the Finals which lost us a days running but with a bit of help and a late night it was fixed and we managed to redeem ourselves. We had some decent weather at each event and Firestorm ran really strong with some PB's gathered up along the way. All things considered it was a great season.
Firestorm is in the workshop as we speak being made ready for what is already looking like a busy 2022 season. Santa Pod have confirmed 6 events for us and we are promised that some of the runs will be side by side which is how we all like it. The side by side runs will be at Festival of Power, Main Event, Euro Finals and Flame & Thunder.
We also have had some great news from Jerry Lackey in Germany they are working hard and are confident that the spectacular NitrOlympX will be back at Hockenheim in 2022 after being cancelled for the last two years. You can find all the dates on the Schedule.
23rd July 2021
We have had a great start to the 2021 season considering that we are all still battling a global pandemic. We had an excellent time at the rescheduled Festival of Power Unlocked which was held in June, we were blessed with marvellous weather over the 3 days and Firestorm put in strong runs all weekend and once again, with some PB's along the way. We were slightly disappointed to have only been scheduled with one side by side pass but all told it was an excellent weekend with plenty of Jet Car Action. This was quickly followed by a somewhat unexpected event, the Jet Fest at the all new Melbourne Raceway held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th July 2021. It was brilliant to be back at what has been our home track for quite a number of years in the guise of the old York Raceway, but the place has now been transformed with a new 1/8th mile track which was very impressive, hats off to everyone who has worked so hard with a very limited budget. The weather gods were not as kind over the weekend but along with Julian Webbs Split Second Jet Dragster and a host of other cars and bikes it was a great show and hopefully the first of many! The track was very wet at one point on Saturday but we did at least get to put on a side by side Flame & Thunder show with Split Second which has resulted in some cracking photographs (check out the Gallery Page) with both cars then putting in solo passes later in the day as the track dried out. All told great to be back on home turf and a very enjoyable weekend!
We now cannot wait for our next event The Ford Show on Sunday 29th August quickly followed by The Euro Finals 9th to 12th September 2021 at Santa Pod Raceway. We look forward to seeing you there!!
10th May 2021
Exciting news - we now have some dates for the 2021 season which you will find on the Schedule. Firestorm is good to go and is already in the trailer ready for off, some time soon we will have a test day at Santa Pod prior to the first event in June. We can't wait and look forward to seeing you at the track.
1st November 2020
We finally made it back to the track late 2020 when we appeared at Not the Euro Finals in September then the Flame & Thunder Lite at Santa Pod Raceway in October. In all honesty we were surprised that we managed to get out at all this year with the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. However, we did and we had a brilliant time at both meetings putting in some good strong runs, some side by side and we also achieved some PB's along the way.
15th June 2020
Quite a bit has been acheived over the last few weeks, we were quite excited to put together the Firestorm Build story which we have now published. It is strange how we seem to have forgotten the enormity of the project that we had undertaken and equally how much work there was to do. We haven't included everything as there is simply too much but we have tried to put together a comprehensive guide to the larger and more involved parts of the build and to also include some of the people that have worked with us along the way. We really hope you enjoy it!
In addition to the Firestorm Facebook Group, we are now also on Instagram and YouTube where you can view all our video's in one place. While you're there hit the subscribe button as we will keep adding content to it.
Keith Bartlett CEO of Santa Pod Raceway has recently issued a further statement to confirm that all Race Events are postponed up until the end of July which unfortunately does include two more of our events.
27th May 2020
Welcome to Firestorm's new website - long overdue since we hadn't been able to update the old site since 2016. But here we are at last aided and abetted by all the extra time we have with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Firestorm is sat in the JetShed ready and waiting to go, like everyone we are frustrated not to be out on the quarter mile but likewise we know it will have to be when the time is right and it is safe to do so. It goes without saying that we are looking forward to seeing you all as soon as we can.
In the meantime, whilst we cannot be at the JetShed or the track we will continue to add some new content to the website.
